Bill a native Kentuckian, began his professional career in 1968when he was commissioned a 2LT in the United States Army. During his 20 years of honorable service as an Armor Officer he enjoyed a diverse series of command and staff assignments throughout the world, including command of three company-sized units in Europe and Korea, and the Command & Control Squadron, 2nd Armor Cavalry Regiment as his final assignment in Nurnberg, Germany in 1988 and 89. While serving on active duty, he completed requirements for a Masters of Business Administration from Western Kentucky University in 1976 and was selected for the U.S. Army Comptroller specialty program. He is a graduate of the Armor Officer Advance Course at Fort Knox, Kentucky in 1975, and the Army Command & General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas in 1985.
After retiring from the U.S. Army in 1989, Mr. Bewley entered the world of contractor support for Department of Defense activities where he has remained since his military retirement in 1989. The early highlight of his commercial career is the co-founding of AB Technologies (ABTech) in 1993. AB Tech became an overnight success in the defense industry, growing from Bill as the first employee to a 45M enterprise in less than seven years. ABTech was sold to Illinois Institute for Technology Research Institute in February 2000
Followingthe sale of AB Techhe engaged in a myriad of entrepreneurial and consulting activities and service on many private and commercial boards until May 2004, when he accepted a position as Senior Vice President and Group Manager of the National Security Group for Camber Corporation, where he remained until August 2006, running a $70M operation of 450 employees focused on doing defense work. He then retired until February 2009 when he co-founded and became the first president of Applied Training Solutions LLC (ATS).Applied Training Solutions focuses on a board scope of operational and technical services and software development projects and products at all levels including Federal and state agencies and all branches of military service for DoD. Products and services include support for planning, training and operational activities in support of a wide range of range of requirements for customers throughout the United States and overseas. ATS remains a strong and growing company today. Bill is the current Managing member and largest shareholder of the company.
Bill has also serving on several boards in support of his volunteer interest since retiring from his active duty career, including his current service as the President of the 2D Cavalry Association since 2005. His involvement with the Armor and Cavalry community has enabled him to lead a national effort in support Wounded Warrior programs and in particular 2D Cavalry Regiment troopers and their families. This continue service to Armor and Cavalry soldiers and has been the highlight of his post active duty career.
